The bringing together of this collection of work is an opportunity to showcase the scope of Irene’s work across two and three dimensions. Her work uses imagery that alludes to architectural structures, domestic interiors and still life, proposing scenes of intimacy or monumentality using plan and elevation as viewpoints.
'Both the works in paper and in ceramics explore an interest in composition, each relying on the arrangement of shape, surface, edge and angle to create moments of tension and equilibrium. As the material shifts from two to three dimensions, shape and image is given form and interpreted as ceramic structures, or as vessels, inviting the application of surface pattern and texture to create a further layer of imagery in the composition of the piece.'
